STATE OF MICHIGAN #1 IN UNEMPLOYMENT

I live in the State of Michigan. Anyone who has lived here for the last thirty years, knew that the time was coming when the unions would destroy the car business. The time finally came and now we have the highest unemployment rate in what was once the greatest manufacturing nation in the world.

Gov. Granholm has done nothing during her tenure to help keep businesses in Michigan. They talk some into coming here, but they don’t stay because they are taxed to death and the union wages and benefits are over the top.

We have an election coming up for a new Governor and other state and federal campaigns. It is time for people to quit voting on how someone looks, or who your union masters tell you to vote for, and quit just picking the name that sounds good. Get out and find out what the candidates are about. Pay attention, because this state and this country can not take anymore social reform. We need jobs now!!!!!!!!

Confused American

Mr. President,

Please excuse my confusion, but I find myself in a quandary. We, the American taxpayer are now proud stock holders in General Motors and Chrysler. I know they have been given new names but for now let’s just call the GM and Chrysler.  I am not sure how many shares of stock we own but have heard it is a considerable amount.

Th cash for clunkers program has recently ended and your administration has declared the program a total success.  It is wonderful that there were sales of over 700,000 cars.  Would it had not been better to sell them at a profit?  Stock holders in the past would require that a profit be shown in normal business atmosphere. I understand that this is not a normal business environment but where did the money come from to balance the books for at least a break even scenario?  Oh, tax payers balanced the books.

I love the idea that American auto workers remained employed and the car dealers sold many cars. The problems still exists that The Obama administration believes that the making profit is a sin and the evil capitalists should be taken out of the picture.  But? Is it not the evil capitalists that create jobs that lead eventually to income taxes deducted every week and sent to Washington and spent for other programs that don’t make a profit?

I guess I am confused.  Is this how the redistribution of wealth works?  The government takes over major corporations and sells stuff at a loss?  Sounds pretty easy.  But what happens when you, Barney Frank and the U.S. Mint runs out of printing ink and can’t afford to buy any more?  It’s  OK to spend until you run out of  some other person’s  money to pay for it.  Right?
